Cartly ("we", "our", or "the app") is a shopping list app for iOS. This policy explains what data is collected and how it is used.
Cartly stores the following data locally on your device using an on-device SQLite database:
This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly enable optional cloud sync (see below).
If you choose to enable sync, your shopping and catalog data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and stored on our servers solely to keep your data consistent across your devices. You can disable sync and delete your server-side data at any time from the app settings.
When you scan a barcode, Cartly sends the barcode number to the Open Food Facts public API to retrieve product information. No personal data is sent — only the barcode number. Open Food Facts is an open-data project; see their privacy policy for details.
The app uses Firebase Crashlytics to automatically report crashes and errors. Crash reports contain technical diagnostic information (device model, OS version, app version, stack trace) but do not contain any personally identifiable information or your shopping data. This helps us fix bugs quickly. You can review Firebase's privacy practices at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
The app uses Mixpanel to collect anonymous usage analytics (e.g. which features are used, session counts). No personal information — name, email, location — is collected. Analytics are used solely to improve the app.
The camera is used to scan barcodes, photograph price tags, and take product photos. The photo library is accessed only when you choose to attach a photo to an item. Photos are stored on your device and are never uploaded without your explicit action.
We do not show ads, sell your data, or share it with third parties for marketing purposes.
Cartly does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The app is rated 4+ and contains no age-restricted content.
If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you inside the app.
